City Council Approves Moratorium On Establishment Of Medical Marijuana Dispensaries & Gardens

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane City Council unanimously approved an ordinance putting a moratorium on the establishment of medical marijuana collective gardens and licensed dispensaries in Spokane.

The emergency ordinance goes into effect today and is suppose to last for no longer than six months while the city establishes a plan for the development of regulations relating to medical marijuana gardens and dispensaries.

With the passage of I-502, the city, along with the state, is working to find ways to implement legalized marijuana. The emergency ordinance passed Monday night will give the city council time to develop proposals pertaining to medical marijuana gardens and dispensaries within the city limits.

A public hearing will be forthcoming, though an exact date has not been set.
