Spokane Valley firefighters were able to quickly put out a brush fire near Evergreen and Indiana Monday afternoon. Officials say just before 4:30pm a citizen called in to report the fire, and within minutes firefighters were on scene, saw smoke and flames, and upgraded the call. Because of winds in the area, every precaution was taken to put the flames out and 20 minutes after the crews arrived on scene, they had the fire knocked down. Right now the cause is under investigation, but officials say there are transient camps nearby. We are told a passerby received minor injuries when they attempted to put out the fire, though the injuries are not considered serious.
