2 Santa Cruz Police Officers Shot Dead

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say two police officers have been killed in a shooting in Santa Cruz, Calif.    Santa Cruz County Sheriff Phil Wowak has confirmed that the officers died after the shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.    The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that the first of two shootings took place as police were investigating a sexual assault. A suspect fired, hitting the two officers.    The newspaper says a third person was shot while police were in pursuit of the shooter.
