KHQ.COM - People in the Northeast are seeing some progress following back-to-back storms. For the first time in 11 days, almost all of Connecticut's homes and businesses have power. Fewer than 20,000 New York City customers remain in the dark. But power crews still have a lot to do in New Jersey and Long Island. More than 200,000 are without power in New Jersey and almost that amount on Long Island. The number of outages is down from 5.5 million in the three states at the height of Superstorm Sandy. The lines at gas stations in New York are shorter now that gas rationing based on license plate numbers has been started. New Jersey started the system almost a week ago. And, the Queens-Midtown Tunnel, a major automotive route linking Manhattan to points east, reopened today after being flooded by Sandy's storm surge. But a major auto tunnel linking Brooklyn to Manhattan is still closed.
