1 dead after daylight cafe shooting in Toronto

TORONTO (AP) - Police were looking for a suspect after a fatal daylight shooting outside a gelato shop in Toronto's Little Italy neighborhood on Monday, where dozens of soccer fans had gathered to watch a European Championship game.
Police said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Toronto police Const. Wendy Drummond said reports of gunshots came in at about 3:30 p.m. local time Monday at the Sicilian Sidewalk Cafe.
Police are looking for a suspect. The shots rang out as soccer fans had gathered to watch Italy play Ireland in a game. Drummond urged the crowds of fans spilling out of the area cafes following the game to respect the crime scene.
Gunfire at a food court at Toronto's most prominent mall earlier this month left two dead and several bystanders shot and injured. Police have said the three men all belonged to the same gang, but believe the shooting was motivated by a personal dispute.
There have been 23 homicides this year in Canada's largest city, two less than last year at this point of the year.
