Young Jeezy, Rick Ross brawl at BET Hip Hop Awards

By Liz Raftery,

What started as a shoving match quickly escalated to a near-brawl between the entourages of Rick Ross and Young Jeezy during a taping of the BET Hip Hop Awards over the weekend, MTV reports.

The rappers and members of their two groups began fighting backstage and eventually moved to the parking lot of the Atlanta Civic Center, where the awards were being filmed Saturday.

A member of Ross's Maybach Music crew known as "Gunplay" was also reportedly involved in a separate incident with members of 50 Cent's G-Unit, according to MTV.

Early reports about the incident claimed that shots had been fired, but police have since said that was untrue.

BET called  the incident "unfortunate," but the network said it still plans to air the awards as scheduled.
