Rosie O'Donnell on renovating Honey Boo Boo's home: "We’re in!"

By Kate Stanhope,

Rosie O'Donnell's offer to buy a new home for Here Comes Honey Boo Boo matriarch Mama June and her family may have been turned down, but the TV host isn't giving up just yet.

After June Thompson said the family's McIntyre, Ga., home needed renovations, O'Donnell told People she's ready to help.

"We're in! Are you kidding me? Of course," O'Donnell told the magazine.  "They do that Extreme Makeover show — hello! I will call David Zaslav [President and CEO of Discovery Communications] when I get home. I will say [the family is] very into an addition, maybe we could get Home Depot to chip in, and we make it the Christmas special: Rosie O'Donnell and Honey Boo Boo's Renovation."

Although Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was canceled last year, we're sure the ever resourceful O'Donnell could work something out. O'Donnell has been very open about her love for the show and its star Honey Boo Boo, whom she likens to Shirley Temple. "I'd love to meet them," she said earlier this month, "and buy them a house."

O'Donnell elaborated on why she is so captivated by the runaway hit TLC reality show. "They're taking a family that is supposed to be perceived as 'less than' and showing them [to have] humanity and value," she said. "I don't watch that much TV anymore — some of the shows like the Real Housewives, I never got into that. People are mean to each other. It's not my thing."
