Police: Sons of Anarchy's Johnny Lewis killed landlady's cat

By Liz Raftery,

More details are emerging about the bizarre death of Sons of Anarchy's Johnny Lewis this week.

Police believe Lewis, who is suspected of killing his 81-year-old landlady, Catherine Davis, before he fell off a roof and died Wednesday, also beat and dismembered Davis' cat, TMZ reports.

Police believe Lewis was under the influence of PCP or meth at the time of his death, because witnesses said he exhibited "superhuman strength" both when fighting two neighbors and when he allegedly beat and dismembered the cat with his bare hands.

Wednesday's strange series of events wasn't the only time Lewis had displayed violent behavior this year. In January and February alone, TMZ reports, the actor was charged with burglary and felony assault with a deadly weapon for separate incidents. He also allegedly punched a man for no reason in another incident in February. Following those arrests, he was sentenced to 303 days in jail and was released just five days before his death. At the time of his death, Lewis was also involved in a custody battle over his daughter, E! News reports. His former alternative sentencing specialist Wendy Feldman, who said the actor had a "mental illness," told the site that Lewis would speak of a daughter. Monty Fisher, a producer on Lewis' film 186 Days, told E! that the child was a baby when the film was shot in 2010.

Davis regularly rented her home out to actors and actresses when they were in town, according to TMZ. Previous tenants reportedly include Parker Posey, Thomas Jane and Matt Bomer.
