Jon Voight supports Brad Pitt's mother's anti-gay marriage, anti-Obama letter

By Natalie Abrams,

Brad Pitt's mother Jane Pitt caused quite a stir last week after penning an anti-Obama, anti-gay marriage letter -- and now Angelina Jolie's father Jon Voight is coming to her defense.

After calling President Barack Obama "a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage," Pitt has received severe backlash and death threats. But she has at least one supporter, the grandfather of her grandchildren!

"Good for her," Voight told FOX411, noting that he agrees with Jane's views. Voight has been a harsh criticizer of Obama going back to his campaigning days.

Pitt's open letter, published in The Springfield News-Leader, was written in response to another opinion piece that justified Christians' rights to refuse to vote for Romney because he's Mormon.

While Brad has yet to comment on the letter, the actor has been vocal about his support for gay marriage. "When someone asked me why Angie and I don't get married, I replied, 'Maybe we'll get married when it's legal for everyone else." Pitt told Parade magazine in 2009. "I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it -- hate mail from religious groups. I believe everyone should have the same rights."
