John Edwards and Rielle Hunter no longer a couple

By Robyn Ross,

John Edwards and Rielle Hunter are no longer a couple, she revealed on Tuesday's Good Morning America.
"We are a family, but as of the end of last week, John Edwards and I are no longer a couple," she told GMA's George Stephanopoulos. "Not at all."

Hunter would not reveal who initiated the split, but said that she still loves the former presidential candidate. Asked if Edwards still loves her, she said, "You have to ask him. I think he does. I mean, I feel that he does." The two met in 2006 and Edwards soon hired Hunter as a videographer for his campaign. They carried on an affair while Edwards was married — Edwards' wife Elizabeth died in December 2010 from cancer — and Hunter gave birth to their daughter, Quinn, in 2008. Edwards and Hunter never formally came out as a couple, but in Hunter's memoir, What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter and Me, which was released Tuesday, she said that they were together.
"For me, for my part in it, it's because I'm no longer interested in hiding, hiding our relationship, not living out," she said. "I don't know if you've noticed, but we've had a lot of media scrutiny. It's complicated and it's hard. It wears you down after a while."
