Glenn Beck vs. Glee: Radio host plans alternative to "horrifying" series

By Sadie Gennis,

In one of the strangest feuds of the year, Glenn Beck has revealed his plan to destroy — of all things -- Glee.During a speech at the Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Washington on Friday, Beck recalled his shock at discovering the musical Fox dramedy (three years after it premiered, we might add) and announced plans to launch a new conservative series -- an anti-Glee project if you will."It's horrifying some of the things that they're teaching high schoolers," Beck said. "But it's brilliantly done. It's produced brilliantly. Its music, brilliant. Its acting, brilliant. Its cinematography, brilliant. All of it!"The former Fox News host said he turned to his wife after watching the well-made but apparently deplorable series and said, "We lose. There is no way to beat that."But apparently, that's not true.Hating Glee, but loving The Glee Project: a viewer's dilemmaAccording to Beck, "We've spent a year now trying to put together a pushback with artists, with music. But not the stereotypical conservative Lee Greenwood music."Making the feud even more bizarre, Beck has dubbed his mission the "Oedipus Project" because "the left will be making out with me and they'll never see it coming."While Beck remains silent on who exactly he has recruited for the show, he did reveal in an interview with Buzzfeed, "We are working with a rapper -- I can't say who yet -- but my audience and his audience will say, 'What?" Beck will preview his anti-Glee show at his "Restoring Love" event on July 28 in Dallas. What part of Gleen's anti-Glee speech here >
