Chris Brown tests positive for drugs, will have probation hearing

By Robyn Ross,

Chris Brown tested positive for marijuana use and will have a hearing to decide whether he's in violation of his 5-year probation stemming from his assault on Rihanna, ABC News reports.

Did Chris Brown get a tattoo of Rihanna on his neck?

Brown appeared in court on Monday where a judge determined he'll need a probation violation hearing on Nov. 1. The Los Angeles Superior Court judge felt she needed more time to review Brown's case and said that because he had a medical-marijuana prescription in California, the positive test may not have an impact on his probation.

Rihanna opens up to Oprah about Chris Brown: "He needed help"

"You are not an average person who can sit in their living room and do what you want to do," Judge Patricia Schnegg said. "You are not only in the public eye, but you are on probation. ... which means that if you violate any laws or orders, then you're subject to a probation violation."

Brown was put on probation for five years after pleading guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. The two have since returned to amicable terms with Rihanna even tweeting Brown the morning of Monday's hearing.

"I'm praying for you and wishing u the best today!" she wrote. "Thank u so much," he responded.
