SOFT SEPTEMBER: All the big airlines reported traffic declines in September, and Southwest said pricing was soft that month.
STILL PROFITABLE: Southwest Airlines Co. still posted a $16 million profit for the quarter. Its adjusted profit was slightly better than analysts had expected, and better than its loss of $140 million during the same period last year.
WHAT'S NEXT: Delta Air Lines and US Airways report results on Wednesday, and United Continental is on Thursday.
