News Summary: Feds probe BMW motorcycles

DETROIT (AP) - THE MODELS: About 24,000 BMW R-Series motorcycles from the 2005 through 2008 model years.

THE PROBLEM: The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating fuel leaks. The housing around the fuel pump can crack and leak gasoline. The agency has received 28 complaints. No fires or injuries, but at least two owners reported that gas soaked their pant legs.

THE REMEDY: None yet. Investigators will check into how often the leaks happen and determine if a recall is necessary.
