(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Jeanine Mason was declared the winner of season five of Fox's hit show, " So You Think You Can Dance ." Mason beat out finalists Evan Kasprzak, Kayla Radomski and Brandon Bryant Thursday night in Los Angeles.
The 18-year-old dancer from Pinecrest, Fla., won $250,000 and the title of "America's Favorite Dancer." She received the most votes out of the 21.6 million votes cast.
"I've spent my whole life looking up to amazing dancers and amazing people, and I've always wanted to be a role model," Mason said after winning the competition. "And just to have 3,000 people in here ..." She choked up as she spoke to the the crowd at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
"Right now I don't really feel much," Mason said to MyFoxLA after the show . "But tomorrow when I wake up I think I will have a big smile on my face."
The runner-up was Bryant of Miami; Kasprzak of West Bloomfield, Mich., placed third; and Radomski, a favorite of many of the judges, placed fourth in the popular voting.
Rumors that Paula Abdul, who recently announced that she would not be returning to "American Idol" , may be joining "Dance" were a hot topic after the show. "Dance" judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said "She may be available." He also confirmed that he spoke with Abdul and that they are planning to meet in Las Vegas.
This season’s Top 10 dancers will soon be on a 40 city tour, while the next season of "Dance" kicks off in September.
